Throat closing up, unsure of what to do with my hands, I stand in the streets of Soho, New York attempting to do a photoshoot with me as the model
I think many photographers will agree that they feel much safer to stand on the other side of the camera and will do anything and everything possible to avoid the lens. Then on the other hand, photographers don't always understand the anxiety of their clients (especially the ones who are camera shy) when they are in front of the camera. A lesson Chris and I will always carry with us and be reminded off.
So we did a photo shoot with the beautiful creations of Silver Swallow. Blessed with the ability to do magic with her fingers and create the most beautiful dresses you could imagine, I had the privilege to be photographed by Chris in two of her stunning creations.
Unsure of what I should do and where I should look, Chris guided me every step of the way. Slowly but surely the anxiety faded and all of a sudden I picked up confidence that I didn’t even know existed. People walked passed, taking photos, hoping that maybe they stumbled upon a star in the making (sorry to disappoint anyone) Chris made me feel like a movie star and before I knew it we have been shooting for an hour.
Very satisfied I learned the importance of making your clients feel comfortable and to read their emotions when doing a photoshoot. We learned that there is confidence in everyone and sometimes we just have to dig a little deeper to find that “va va voom” to create great shots.
Here is to creating memories. Book your shoot today with Madison&West. Understanding our clients and making you feel at ease to create the best imagery.
