Mari-Louise Candiotes, or as most Instagrammers know her as @justamamma, is definitely not “just a mamma”.
This mamma of two ( with another little one on the way) has Social Media buzzing with her cool posts and trendy blogs about the newest toys, accessories, decor and fashion to only name a few.
Her slogan “Helpful | Innovative | Motivating” is exactly what she aims to achieve with her blogs and she is spot on every time.
She has a fine acquired taste in life and will only blog about products if she is willing to use it herself. So a fresh and realness comes to mind when reading her blogs that sets her apart from the rest of the mom bloggers out there. She is also focussed on products that support the South African market, that makes her a blogger with a vision and a love for South Africa.
I took it at liberty to ask her a few questions on her life as mother, wife, momtrepreneur and friend and this is what she said:
Q: What is your vision on being a mom and a wife in today's fast paced life?.
A: Life is fast paced but I see it as a goal to slow down. Time really does fly when you have little ones, big families and a business to run but I do believe that as a woman, I have the authority to set the tone and "pace" for our home and our lives. I choose how I spend my days and how we spend our weekends. Saying no and not letting others and unnecessary pressure dictate our choices have helped us stay centred, focused and close as a family.
Q: If there is only one lesson you want your kids to learn, what would it be?
A: You CAN trust in God, no matter how far fetched people think it seems or how much the world will try and get you to rely on other things.
Q: What drives you to do what you do?
A: I have always been a creative person... Feeling most at home and happiest when I am creating something. I also know that my purpose and gift is to serve others. (1 Cor 12). Just a Mamma gives me a space to do both. Creating beautiful content that serves as informative to other women / moms. While planning and developing this content I also get to work and collaborate with other wonderful women and brands, in turn helping them grow their brand, providing them with gorgeous images or brain-storming how we are going to infuse the word with beauty, love and positive thinking - not to sound like too much of a hippie.
Q: Is there anything else that inspires / motivates / helps you?
A: Like Maslow I have my own hierarchy of needs;
1. God; He is pretty much my everything and I try my best to infuse my life and home with His presence. Starting everyday with a prayer and Bible study, praying throughout the day and yes, even listening to Impact radio. Being a natural observer, I am always aware of everything around me and can get distracted very easily so I need to saturate myself with His presence, this gives me a calm and ease to go about my day.
2. My husband; I love him like no other, it just can't be explained. We are high school sweet hearts and have been inseparable for the last 14 years (minus 2 months we tried living without each other back in '05). He thinks I'm wonder-woman and even has me believing it on good days. My blog is thanks to his support and love.
3. My girls, Eliana and Lia. Just being their Mamma has been a dream come true and gives me not only purpose and direction but a career I never could have imagined. It's such a cliche, I'm sure I've seen it on a poster but it's true; the day I became a Mom, my true self was revealed to me. They teach me unconditional love, love at 1st sight, organisation, selflessness and how God really loves each of us. Loving them also helped me love myself and all my flaws.
4. Woolworths salt and vinegar chips and firm tomatoes with salt. Life would be horrible without these.
Q: Any final words of wisdom?
A: When you don't know the answer or what to do; watch Friends.
It’s clear, with a love for God and people, drive and determination and her humility it is clear to say that Mari-Louise is much more than just a mamma
